| FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q. What makes "the BOXX®" unique vs. other plastic bulk containers?
A. Our unique "knockdown" feature allows us to provide an efficient and effective
way to streamline and maximize storage and reduce transportation costs.
In addition, all BOXX® parts can be replaced individually saving time and money!
Q. I thought all plastic bins were made out of the same material?
A. The BOXX® is constructed of a superior resin. Molded from tough, FDA approved
HDPE (high density polyethylene), the impact resistant BOXX® offers superior product
protection and long service life.
Q. What is the typical warranty period on plastic bulk containers?
A. The typical warranty offered in the industry is one year. Pacific Bin currently is the only
manufacturer that offers a 4-year warranty!
Q. As a smaller grower my needs for plastic bins do not meet the minimum
order requirements for many bin manufacturers. What is your minimum?
A. Pacific Bin welcomes your order no matter how small since we have no minimum
order requirements. We maintain product inventory in strategic locations throughout
the United States allowing shipment within 24 to 48 hours after receipt of order.
Q. Current freight costs significantly increase the cost of my order. Is there
any way to reduce this expense?
A. You will enjoy a substantial savings on your initial order compared to other bins
because of the unique knockdown BOXX® design. As many as 350 BOXX®es can
ship in a 53' trailer. Assembled and safely stacked three high, as many as 72 BOXX®es
can be transported on a 48' trailer.
Q. Can the BOXX® be stacked, and how high can I stack them?
A. The BOXX® has been designed to ensure a positive interlock between the top
corners and the feet above to permit stacking ten high fully loaded.
Q. What is the advantage of a knockdown if I never disassemble my bins?
A. If a side or the base is damaged, it can be replaced immediately avoiding
down time and the cost of replacing the entire bin. Also, you can mix and match solid and vented parts to create a custom BOXX® tailored to your specific needs at no additional cost. In addition, the
knock-down design allows the complete removal of one side for easy
access.
Q. Why should I invest in plastic bins instead of less expensive wood bins?
A. The BOXX®'s smooth, rounded, plastic components promote higher quality yield,
reduced spoilage and longer shelf life. Unlike wood bins, the BOXX® maintains uniform weight and shape throughout the repeated harvesting,
cleaning, cooling, storing and transportation cycles. Maintenance costs
can be dramatically reduced and packout is improved, thereby assuring
you of a quick return on your investment.
Q. Do I need to use a pallet with the BOXX®?
A. The BOXX® is designed for both forklift and pallet jack entry which eliminates
the need for a pallet underneath it.
Q. Is the BOXX® available in any colors other than white?
A. White is our standard color. For orders over 500, other colors are available.
Q. How large are the slots in the vented components?
A. All slots in the sides and bases of the BOXX® are approximately 1/4" in width. This size has proven the most
effective in containing a variety of products while offering the
greatest ventilation and drainage advantage.
Q. Will the solid BOXX® hold liquid?
A. Due to its unique construction, the BOXX® requires a liner or bladder to hold liquid. Custom liners are available, please contact us for your liquid needs.
Q. Will sunlight damage the BOXX®?
A. The BOXX® has been molded with an
ultraviolet inhibitor in the plastic so that we can offer a 4-year
warranty, even though we expect the BOXX® will last much longer.
Q. Is knock-down the same as collapsible?
A. Knock-down refers to a container which has sides
and a base that come apart completely for the most efficient storage.
The knock-down design of the BOXX® produces greater stacking
strength than other designs. Collapsible refers to containers with
hinged parts that can be folded down to a more compact form when empty.
