Catching the eye of repeat customers is an ever-present dilemma for store managers.
Ben Greaney, produce manager for Big E's Foodland Inc. wanted a change from the European
tables he was using. He hoped to find something less bulky than the previous static display tables.
The new MDB (Mobile Display BOXX®) from Pacific Bin not only gave Ben more display
space per square foot, but the freedom to move his displays quickly and easily, keeping the
display intact!
Ben is convinced that "the whiteness of the bin is what attracts people. I sold 3-4 additional
cartons of apples off one Pacific Bin display. I like the mobility and I especially like the tilt
feature on the MDB - it makes a very attractive display."
Galst Foods in Milwaukee, WI
Mark Teper, Produce Manager, needed a better way to display. They knew what they wanted,
but had to make it themselves, out of wood pallets and formica . . . until they discovered the Mobile Display BOXX®.
Mark has been delighted with the new look that the clean, white displays bring to the aisles
of Galst Foods. "There's just nothing like looking down that aisle . . . it's so clean and bright and
attractive," says Mark. "According to some industry experts, the #1 thing is cleanliness, even
over price for successful produce sales," he added.
The pallet jack entry sides allow Mark and other users of the MDB to remove them
from the store for pressure washing, ensuring the cleanest presentation possible. This mobility
feature also allows Mark to merchandise collard, mustard and turnip greens - since the bins
can be moved into the cooler at night to maintain freshness of the greens.
Mark has also added white milk crates to the center of these displays to hold the plastic bags.
This not only maintains the "look" that he desires but gives the customers easy access.
The Mobile Display BOXX® allows more produce to be merchandised in a limited area than other
static displays offer. Mark has found that he is able to fill each display with 10 cartons of greens
- allowing him to merchandise more produce per square foot - a certain recipe for success!
