SketchUp makes 3D drawing a cinch for architecture, engineering, and construction professionals. With a range of easy and intuitive controls, SketchUp offers AEC professionals a way to transform 2D sketches into detailed 3D models, and the best way to optimize this software’s features is with BOXX SketchUp workstations.
The acclaimed SketchUp has gained widespread use in architecture, engineering, and construction projects. With a number of other applications (cinematic and video game modeling), SketchUp offers all the functionality and AI augmentation AEC professionals need, while sacrificing none of the usability required to make designing a painless process. Even with simple controls, however, you still need the best workstation for SketchUp, i.e., a BOXX APEXX system.
When AEC professionals need to render 3D models in SketchUp, they have a list of add-ons and extensions from which to choose. These options include V-Ray and Octane Render, as well as AI-generated add-ons like ArkoAI, a cloud rendering tool. Regardless, each plugin may require different specs, as V-Ray can take advantage of CPUs or GPUs, while Octane Render only uses GPUs. You can solve this dilemma by choosing a BOXX SketchUp rendering solution. For CPU rendering, configurations are available with multi cores while local GPU rendering solutions can accommodate up to four GPUs in a single SketchUp workstation tower. BOXX recommends the APEXX W4 or an APEXX T4. Contact one of our SketchUp performance specialists to custom-configure your ideal workstation.

In just a few short steps, SketchUp allows AEC users to transform a single line into a box with custom depth. With functions like push and pull, line weight adjusting, and dimension altering, SketchUp offers users precise tools for detailed design and modeling of any project, whether grand cityscapes or small, intricate assemblies. In addition, SketchUp Diffusion brings easy-to-use generative AI into the application, providing a way to quickly generate images, while add-ons like Veras relies on text prompts and your SketchUp model viewport to generate images.
Selecting SketchUp workstations is critical because supporting these workflows should be as easy and functional as possible. The first thing you should know is that SketchUp is a frequency-bound application (the dominant variable in determining performance). The number of CPU cores in your workstation is less important than the frequency of the single core that SketchUp uses.
To address this need, BOXX performance tunes our SketchUp recommended APEXX S3 to deliver increased frequency which maximizes application performance. Another highly recommended system is the APEXX A3. Contact one of our SketchUp performance specialists to custom-configure your ideal workstation.

An easy one to add to your workflow, if it’s not there already, is SketchUp. Its main selling point is that it’s just plain easy to use.
"One of the things I tried to explain was you cannot kill a BOXX. That’s the thing. An eight year-old BOXX will still run. It’s a different kind of system."
