Like virtually all CAD applications, Solid Edge is frequency bound, meaning it predominantly uses only one core, so selecting the number of processing cores for your Solid Edge workstation is critical. Since the frequency of the CPU core determines performance more than any other variable, Solid Edge workstations with less cores (but higher frequency) are ideal. Because of this, we performance tune our Solid Edge-optimized workstations, delivering the world's fastest, most productive Solid Edge computer workstations which also optimize Solid Edge generative AI design capabilities like assembly relationships. Compute tasks like rendering and simulation are multi-threaded, meaning they commonly utilize multiple cores simultaneously. So, if you incorporate these tasks into your Solid Edge workflow, Solid Edge recommended hardware with more cores can provide better performance by reducing compute time. For heavy rendering or simulation workflows, BOXX also recommends offloading to a dedicated rendering system.
